Amherst Lioness Club History
The history of the Amherst Lioness Club began with the Lionettes Club. The Lionettes Club was the forefather of the Lioness Club and donated approximately $9,000.00 to the Lions Club over the years on their annual Charter Night. They also donated two fridges and a stove for the Lions Club. The Amherst Lioness Club Has now merged with the Lions Club.
The Lionettes worked closely with the Lions Club by assisting them in various events and fund raisers. The Lionettes provided monthly luncheons for the C.N.I.B., the Lionettes also assisted in the annual blind picnic.

On November 4th, 1979 the Amherst Lionette Club was dissolved. From November 4th, 1979 until November 12th, 1980 there was no existing Lionette's or Lioness club.
Then on November 20th, 1980 an organizational meeting chaired by King Lion Don Chitty with Anita and Len Giffen, from the Milford Club, in attendance was held at the Lions Club. At the meeting interim officers were chosen. These officers where as follows:

January 8th, 1981 the first regular meeting of the newly formed Amherst Lioness Club was held.

The Lioness started with a donation to the VON to start their Foot Care Program and by donating TV’s, magazines, geriatric chairs, clocks, toys, commode chairs to paediatrics, and lounge chairs. Other projects and donations for the Salvation Army, Diabetics Society, Camp Tidnish, Lung Association for a new room at the IWK, Canine Vision Canada, Kidney Association, John Howards.
The Lioness have also been involved with the hospital with financial donations and the purchasing of needed equipment.
